On March 30, 2011 Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) was honored to welcome H.R.H. the Prince of Orange Willem-Alexander visited Tan Cang - Cat Lai terminal. The Prince was accompanied by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, Mr. Joop Atsma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Joop Scheffers and more than 60 representatives of Dutch companies in the fields of water, agriculture, transportation, marine and oil and gas.

On 21st February 2011, the ceremony of signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Saigon Newport Corporation and Dong Thap province to cooperate in developing economy and attending social activities was organized at conference room No. 1. Attending at the ceremony, the delegations of SNP, there were Senior Colonel Nguyen Dang Nghiem – General Director, Vice General Directors, and other representatives from function departments. Representatives for Dong Thap province, there were Mr. Le Vinh Tan – member of the Central Communist Party Committee, Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Mr. Le Minh Hoan – Provincial President, Mr. Nguyen Ton Hoang – Vice President, and more than 40 leaders of provincial departments, committees, and youth union.

From the 8th to 11th of December 2010, the Delegation of Vietnam Port Association (VPA) led by the representative of Saigon Newport Corporation, in company with delegates of Saigon Port, Phu My Port, and Hai Phong Port attended the 36th Conference of ASEAN Port Association (APA) held at Siem Reap, Cambodia. This conference was organized after the 31st Meeting of APA Working Committee held in Yangon, Myanmar, from 21st to 23rd of September 2010.

On 30 November 2010, “Saigon Newport Third Traditional Friendship Golf Tournament 2010” was held at Long Thanh Golf Club. This annual event is organized by Saigon Newport Corporation to strengthen the relationship with customers, shipping lines, forwarders, leaders of Ho Chi Minh Authorities, neighboring provincial authorities of the South Key Economic Area and relevant departments

In September, Tan Cang - Cat Lai Terminal accommodated 243 vessels. Terminal A received 109 vessels and Terminal B received 134 Vessels. Container throughput in September slightly deacreased. Net productivity reached 54.8 cont/vh and Portstay one was 46.9 cont/vh. The Maximum net and port-stay productivity was 77.6 cont/vh and 68.7cont/vh respectively (those reached with MSC Alpana V.81034R).

During the fair, Saigon Newport Corporation has actively participated in charity activities, sponsored 100 million VND, and cooperated with the Military Hospital 175 and the Department of Economics – Ministry of National Defense to operate Free Eye Surgery for the poor in Cambodia. Additionally, Saigon Newport Corporation also donated to the poor Vietnamese and Cambodian in Cambodia with 500 gifts, valued 50 million VND

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Thien - Party Chief of Provincial Committee praised outstanding achievements of Saigon Newport in excelling national defense duties and was especially impressed by rapid business development of the corporation by maintaining its leading position in terminal operations in Vietnam and ranked 40th worldwide, growing at over 25% annually on average with total container import – export throughput of 48% nationwide and 81% in the South (from Binh Thuan Province to Ca Mau Province)

The 6th Asean CIO Summit & Awards 2010 was held in Sheraton hotel, Hanoi from 22nd to 24th September 2010. The 44 winners from the different industrial and business fields have been honored and awarded the CIO Prize (for the most excellent chief information officers) in the Indo-China’s region since 2005 as per the initiative of the International Data Group (the IDG Vietnam)
