Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal Company Limited (TCIT), the joint venture of Saigon Newport Corporation, MOL, Hanjin Shipping Lines and Wanhai Lines, was established in September, 2009. With an initial investment of USD 100 million, TCIT operates 02 berths of total length of 590 meters, 15.8 meters of water draft at berth, 14 meters of channel chart datum, 600 meters of turning basin and 34.6 hectares of CY, which enables the accommodation of 110,000-DWT (9,000-TEU) vessels. The expected annual capacity is 1,150,000 TEUs.
In December, TCIT was making essential preparations to be open very soon. All brand-new Container Handling Equipment was tested and ready to receive the maiden voyage in early January 2011. Up to now, TCIT has received 04 STS & 12 eRTGs, 16 prime movers and 30 trailers. The other 08 eRTGs & 02 STS came to TCIT on January 10th 2011. In the future, TCIT will be fully equipped with 20 eRTGs 6 1, 6 Post-Panamax Quaysides (55m outreach), 30 prime movers, 30 trailers, 01 reach stacker and 600 reefer plugs.
On January 15th 2011, TCIT shall welcome the maiden call of MOL. This is also the first vessel of TNWA (the alliance of MOL, APL and Hyundai) which offers “JEX” – a direct service from Vietnam to Europe.
Also in December, the headquarter of TCIT was officially moved to Floor 7, Tan Cang Cai Mep Building. The new address is: Floor 7, Tan Cang Cai Mep Building, Tan Phuoc Commune, Tan Thanh District, Ba Ria- Vung Tau Province, Tel: 8464 3938 555, Fax: 8464 3938 515.
In the time to come, TCIT will set up another representative office in Ho Chi Minh City (in replacement of the original at Sunwah Tower) at Tan Cang Terminal, Saigon Newport Corporation.
