SNP’s Cat Lai Terminal is a dedicated container terminal, which had been planned and built at Cat Lai Ward, District 2, Hochiminh City. It is the biggest container terminal in Vietnam with the total area of 60 ha, 20.000 m2 warehouses, 450.000 m2 CYs, 973 m berth length equipped with 12 quayside cranes including 10 German-made Kranbaun Eberswalder Gantry Cranes.

Apart from expanding and upgrading infrastructure, SNP has constantly stepped up to install the most up-to-date in an attempt to boost productivity and enhance customer services. As of February 2007, 15 specialized Terberg trailors imported from Malaysia had been put into operation in response to a tremendous growth in peak season of Tet Holiday.

Recently as MSC’s M/V the Jessica with voyage number B703R had arrived at Cat Lai Port at 5:30 p.m. on January 19, 2007, 1,358 containers (524 inbound & 834 outbound) were handled at 60 moves plus/hr – a record-breaking Productivity Per Port Stay (PPS) before it departed at 3:30 a.m. on January 20, 2007. Representatives of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) were emailing Saigon Newport Company (SNP) to express their esteem and appreciation for the efficient and high-quality handling service currently rendered at Cat Lai Port.

On November 14, 2006, HCMC Region I Customs had, in cooperation with Saigon Newport Company (SNP), hosted the “Meeting between enterprises and HCMC Region I Customs” at SNP great hall. The meeting, presided by representatives of HCMC Customs, Region I Customs and SNP Board of Director, had attracted the attendance of representatives of many shipping lines, shipping agents and business enterprises operating at SNP’s premises.

On December 06, 2006, Saigon Newport Company (SNP) had the honor of being the official member of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) certified by the registration number 2273/PTM-HV. VCCI – a national organization which assembles and represents business community, employers and business associations of all economic sectors in Vietnam – has been operated throughout the country and closely linked to international chambers of commerce.

Last November 10, 2006 as the M/V named Marcatania of Dongnama Shipping Lines carrying the 1,250,000th teu departs Cat Lai Port, SNP was enjoying the ceremony for fulfilling throughput plan for this year 50 days ahead.

On January 02, 2007 Saigon Newport Company (SNP) finally put the aforementioned service into official use subsequent to one month of technical perfection. First in Vietnam, this service is implemented to assist traders throughout the country - mobile phone subscribers of Mobiphone, Vinaphone, Viettel and S-Fone.

In an attempt to boost terminal operations and vessel productivity following continuous effort to invest on facilities and expand container yard, Cat Lai Port organized a meeting on the implementation of the new Port Closing Time (PCT) last October 13, 2006. Attending the meeting were representatives of more than 30 shipping lines now operating at Cat Lai Port.
